dmx.berlin is the personal website of Jörg Richter, software developer. Study of computer science and linguistics at TU Berlin. Former CTO of the DeepaMehta GmbH and DMX Systems UG companies. He lives and works, and was born, in Berlin. All his software is Open Source.

After putting the LEGO bricks aside I've discovered the computer as the ultimate tool for endless puzzles. That was 1981 when I learned Z80 assembler on a Micro-Professor MPF-I. A year later I did Pac Man and Centipede clones on my ZX Spectrum. Whilst at high school, I've created MIDI sound editors for Roland keyboards and sold them through G.C.Geerdes and Softarts (now defunct). After university I worked at Claassen & Friends and built, in the late 90s, the artfacts.net website, which became one of the largest about contemporary arts. At 2000 I was employed at Staps Mindware when Knowledge Management was the thing. Matthias Staps set me on a mission: "Do research about Knowledge Management, and this is how the UI should look like" — he showed me a Mind Map. This was the birth of the DeepaMehta project, my now 25+ years ongoing quest for building a cognitively adequate work environmement. Currently version 6, a complete rewrite, is on the way.

Besides software development my passion is music. In the 80s I grew up with the punk and new wave records of my sister. In the late 80s I started experimenting with a Roland D-10 synthesizer, bought from a small inheritance from my grandmother. In the early 90s I did a duo with a former high school buddy. Both efforts are now documented at Bandcamp as Kind aus Blech and Phil & Jörg respectively. Since the 2000's I was regular guest DJ at MissVergnügen's Strange Music for Strange People parties at Eschschloraque. Today I'm curating 2 music streams, one being Essential Madness Radio, featuring 80s experimental DIY music, the other being Bhakta Radio, featuring meditative avant-garde music.
